Meet Erin, Owner and Founder of The Mindful Bird

Hi, I’m Erin ‘Bird’ Schemenski.

I aim to demystify the “woo” and build practical relationships with the natural life-force energies within and around us. with clients in the Denver, CO area as well as beyond.

It is our human right to preserve our relationship to the natural world with our innate senses to support our health and well-being. Raised in the Garden State, I am accustomed to the seasons of nature and intuitive through this foundation as a child.

I began advancing my spiritual skills with Lisa Ford in 2014 and completed a bachelors degree in Human Ecology before moving to Denver, CO and attuning to Reiki Level III in 2017. Shortly after, I studied nursing with dual roles as a nurse’s assistant and a volunteer Reiki practitioner at UC Health until 2021. In 2020, I completed a breath work certification and truly began the formation of The Mindful Bird.

The Mission: Bringing Science and Spirituality Together

Somatics

I focus on the person as a whole system, supporting the body to sense innate balance. ‘Soma’ the Greek work for ‘body’ is the vessel that carries cellular, electrical, and molecular processes of mind and body as whole unit. We know about the body through science, we live through it in spirit. In ancient and traditional cultures, the body is a vessel for life-force.

Energy

The nervous system is the highway between the brain and body. Though consciousness and physical connection, our systems signal electrical currents and cellular blood flow creating energy through what’s known in chemistry as a heat transfer or exchange. Varying levels of activation stimulate or relax our body and mind so cellular energy can flow naturally, like nature.

Something Greater

When we feel connected to the spirit, or energy of anything, we are reminded of something greater than ourselves. If we acknowledge that all atoms have vibrational properties, there is life within and around us. This perspective of this common connection can relieve mental suffering and to create a sense of interconnected support.

The Mindful Bird is the bird that sings you the sweet song you needed to hear on a spring day. The bird that reminds you that life is always moving, that life is abundant and plenty. It is the bird that reminds you to do your dance but to also sit with your eggs and incubate until the time is right.

Allow The Mindful Bird to guide you.

  • I’m Erin and I’m bold, yet sincere and ever seeking.

I consider myself a forever learner and lover of the earth and all things functional.

I have a deep interest in psychology and the nervous system. I find that the mind-body connection and understanding how we create behaviors in our environments plays important roles to our overall health, well-being, and healing.

I believe the body is the bridge between both the spiritual and the physical world communicating these needs through consciousness.

I’m a firm believer in the incredible power of both the acute care of Western medicine and the therapeutic practices of Eastern medicine. As both practices believe, the body has a natural healing system and I am here to encourage individuals sensing into whatever that path looks like in them.

My ultimate life mission is to familiarize our society with Reiki and Breath work by bringing them into western clinic or educational settings in order to provide a whole body conscious experience for patients and students to optimize the work load of all medicine doctors, nurses, and teachers.

I am seeking to work together with licensed medical or educational professionals who want to incorporate or elaborate the study of Reiki in their patient treatment or educational plans or through research and teaching.

  • As a Reiki Practitioner, Breathwork Facilitator, and a Mind-Body Energy Guide, my unique conditioning and healing path along with my professional and educational experience have deeply prepared me for where I am now and where I am headed.

My current practice is the mind-body connection as well as spiritual embodiment of the soul’s desire for connection. All of my work incorporates mindfulness.

My goal is to bring the most peaceful, highest potential into each client’s awareness through my modalities in order for them to gain a great sense of self-worth in deservingness to live optimally with confidence in any environment. When we operate from this place, our energy systems can better flow with less stagnancy and dis-ease.

I believe that our individual actions compound into the collective and in order to support our world, we must begin with our selves. This is why healing is important now, to support more consistency in clarity, movement, awareness and well-being. You deserve to be your best to create a more healed world.

I hope to one day research and teach on the findings I discover along my path because it is vital to share our uniqueness with the masses.

  • Instead of shutting out my sensitive and empathic human traits when I was younger, I decided to amplify and work with them.

I have been practicing psychic and intuitive abilities since 2014 and my passion for Western medicine started in 2010. After college, I moved to Colorado and was recommended to a Reiki certification. Between signing up for the class and the day the class started, I tore my ACL in a skiing accident. I took the Reiki training and then flew back to my childhood home for support through recovery. This is when I realized my healing was a trifecta between the mind, body, and spirit.

Later on, I was headed down the path to nursing school while working with a nursing assistant license on a Bone Marrow Transplant unit at a local Denver hospital. The pandemic staffing at the hospital was incredibly stressful on my mental, emotional, and physical well-being and I decided to part ways from Western care at the end of 2021. I currently still volunteer Reiki to cancer patients receiving infusion treatments at the hospital.

I was certified in Reiki in 2017 and Breathwork in 2020. Since then, I have relentlessly and independently studied the history and potential science of both modalities and have begun to make my own observations and opinions about potential benefits.

I’ve also acquired knowledge of the Akashic Records, displaying our infinite creation of our thoughts and actions and their future potentialities within and beyond the human dimension.

When we open ourselves and relax, we can sort through the mind and then bring our desired, peace-filled emotions into our body for greater ease of fulfillment.

  • I currently live in Denver, Colorado where I serve my clients and build a life with my partner.

I hold value and aspirations in exploring and connecting through writing and speaking communication, education, community, travel, and luxury.

I hold a daily self-care practice in herbs, astrology/paganism, meditation, writing, dance, and walking.
